Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 September 2026 · Governing law: England & Wales

Important: Fisely is a tax record-keeping and estimation tool. It does not provide regulated financial advice, tax advice, or legal advice. All figures are estimates only. Always verify your Self Assessment return with HMRC or a qualified accountant before filing.

1. Who we are

Fisely Ltd ("we", "us") provides a software-as-a-service platform at fisely.com to assist UK self-employed individuals with income tracking, expense logging, and tax estimation for HMRC Self Assessment.

2. Eligibility

You must be: (a) at least 18 years old; (b) a UK tax resident; (c) using the service for self-employment income tax purposes only. The service is designed for sole traders and is not suitable for limited companies, partnerships, or PAYE employees.

3. Account registration

  • You must provide accurate information. Providing false UTR or NI numbers may constitute fraud.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account.
  • Notify us immediately at contact@fisely.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to abuse free trials is prohibited.

4. Subscription and payment

  • Free plan: No charge. Access to core features as described on the pricing page.
  • Pro plan: £9.99/month, or the current price shown on the pricing page. Billed via Stripe. We are not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added.
  • A 14-day free trial is available for new Pro subscribers, once per customer. No charge until the trial ends; cancel before then and you won't be charged.
  • Cancel anytime from your Subscription page. You retain Pro access until the period ends.
  • Refunds: Pro-rata refunds available within 14 days of first payment if the service is materially defective. Contact contact@fisely.com.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. You may cancel before the change takes effect.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use the service to file fraudulent tax returns or evade tax
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate the service beyond its intended use
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Upload malware or attempt to compromise our infrastructure
  • Use the AI Assistant to solicit advice intended to facilitate tax fraud

6. Accuracy of tax calculations

  • Tax estimates are based on HMRC-published rates for the relevant tax year.
  • Calculations assume you have no other income sources unless you specify them.
  • HMRC may apply different rates, allowances or reliefs based on your individual circumstances.
  • We cannot guarantee figures produced by our engine match HMRC's final assessment.
  • You remain solely responsible for the accuracy and timely filing of your Self Assessment return.

7. HMRC Making Tax Digital integration

  • MTD submission is a Pro feature. You explicitly authorise us to connect to your HMRC account.
  • Quarterly submissions via MTD are provisional — they do not finalise your tax liability until you crystallise.
  • We are not an HMRC-approved agent and cannot represent you in disputes with HMRC.

8. Data and intellectual property

  • Your data belongs to you. You can export or delete it at any time (see Privacy Policy).
  • Financial data is retained for 7 years, even after account deletion — our standard policy period, which exceeds HMRC's 5-year minimum for self-employed record-keeping.
  • The software, including all algorithms, UI designs and content, is owned by Fisely Ltd.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any tax penalties, fines or surcharges you incur as a result of using this service.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from this service is limited to the subscription fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses.

10. Service availability

We aim for 99.5% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is communicated in advance where possible. We are not liable for data loss caused by force majeure events.

11. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time from Profile → Delete My Account.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account immediately for breach of these Terms.
  • On termination, your data is handled per the Privacy Policy (financial data retained 7 years).

12. Complaints

If you're unhappy with Fisely, tell us through the contact form (choose "Complaint", or use the Complaints link at the bottom of our website) or email contact@fisely.com with "Complaint" in the subject. We'll acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to reply in full within 14 days. If it's about how we handle your personal data and you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. UK consumers can use the Competition and Markets Authority or Citizens Advice consumer service (citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer) for independent advice on resolving a dispute.

14. Changes to these Terms

We will notify you by email of material changes 14 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you may close your account.
